Mt Rushmore National Memorial, South Dakota

As part of a trip through South Dakota in 2024 with two of my cousins it was a requirement that we go to Mt. Rushmore. Not only because it is an American landmark and Memorial, but because one of my cousins is a stone sculptor, so being near one of the largest rock sculptures in the world there was no way we were going to miss it. It was carved by Gutzon Borglum and depicts 4 of the most influential presidents in American history. George Washington was the first president and represents the country’s founding, Thomas Jefferson was the third president who was the primary author of the Declaration of Independence and expanded the country through the Louisiana Territory, Abraham Lincoln was the 16th president who ended slavery and preserved the country by winning the Civil War, and Theodore Roosevelt who was the 26th president and led the US through rapid economic growth, worked to end monopolies, and worked to expand the National Park system.
