Larsen Bay, Alaska

Larsen Bay is located on the northeast side of Kodiak Island. The village is named after famous hunter Pete Larsen and was formed around a cannery that has been in operation for over 100 years. Many of the current inhabitants can trace their lineage to the nearby community of Karluk. Archaeological evidence shows that the area has been occupied for thousands of years. Larsen Bay is well known for its fishing and hunting, supporting numerous lodges and the cannery.

Many of the buildings have the feel of a historic construction, some places remind you of a bygone era, like the shack of pay phones and the glass panes of the windows. Walking along the beach you can find everything from glass to old rusty ship parts.
